Situated just off the north coast of Scotland Orkney is an archipelago of 70 islands (16 inhabited) and home to a population of just under 20,000 people.

The islands offer a rich mixture of culture and opportunity together with outstanding scenery and some of the most modern and high living standards to be found in the UK.

Despite its location off the north of Scotland, Orkney is far from being a remote community. In fact the islands are extremely well-served by several daily air and sea transport links and high-speed broadband internet connections, making Orkney less remote than many mainland areas of Scotland.

In Orkney, you'll find all the amenities you’d expect in a modern community: from banks and shops to excellent schools, sports centres and facilities. We have our own college, a number of swimming pools, a cinema, art galleries and a theatre. Add to that the unspoiled scenery, good quality housing, a strong sense of community, low crime rates, good healthcare and you'll begin to understand why the quality of life here is so good.
