Property and housing in Orkney
Housing is very affordable in Orkney and many people who move here are surprised at the very reasonable prices for property compared with prices in the South.
Orkney has a wide range of housing to suit all requirements - from modern or Norwegian style properties to traditional stone-built houses, either in one of the main towns, in the smaller villages, or out in the ‘country'.
Many have land with them or decent-sized gardens. A variety of rented accommodation is also available.
Please note that the legal procedures for house buying in Scotland are quite different from England.
